The Manhattan Monologue Slam is featured monthly at Bennett Media Studios. This Live event has two segments. The first part showcases professional actors who each have 5 minutes to tell their story to a live audience, and a panel of judges. Then a winner is declared and invited back the following month to defend their title. After a brief intermission, part two begins and this is where the fun opens up for everyone.  Audience members who signed up during the intermission, are invited on stage to give their stories..though each person gets only 30 seconds. And from these performers, the audience votes for a winner who will have the opportunity to come back next month as a  5 Minute storyteller. There always seems to be surprises as the range of acting and storytelling is so varied.

All upcoming performances in 2010 will be on the last Friday of each month.

Here’s this month’s invitation/flyer.

The event held December 18th was a festive evening. Full house, SRO, and the storytellers ranged from Brooklyn Hipsters to a 9 year old girl full of stories to share.

The amateur portion was won by a girl from Cal Tech, California who is visiting her comedienne sister here in NY. She will be back next month.
