This year, I have decided to speak at and attend both Beijing and Shanghai versions of the EARS conference. November 28th to December 4.

Bilingual event website here…

The Beijing Version will be part of the Strawberry Music Festival, part of the Modern Sky Festival, and will feature 30 bands playing around different venues in Beijing.

Before my conference in Beijing and Shanghai, I want to revisit some of the Art Galleries in both cities.

In Beijing, the Factory 798 is one of my favorite gallery districts in the world. Modern Chinese Art is capturing the imagination of the world, and I find the art very simplistic and pure.  China has always had a deep rooted tradition in all arts, and these new emerging artists are making a modern statement.

In Shanghai, there are fewer areas, but my favorite is M50 district, which is the 1918ArtsSpace on 50 Moganshan Rd., Pudong, Shanghai…with many galleries.

The M50 Galleries in Shanghai had a diverse collection. Here are some photos.

Mayors Association

Earlier this year on Shanghai, I spoke at a Mayors Association Conference hosted and organized by Zhang Ying. My subject was the importance of Art and Music in their cities. The subject of “Culture ” is becoming increasingly important to leaders in China as the balance between work, play and art…lifestyle choices as well, emerges as a leading topic.  Ying, after graduating from PKU and Harvard Business School, had senior experience in China with Ogilvy and Frog Design. Now an Entrepreneur and Event/Forum organizer, she did a fantastic job running the Show.

After the event, this was a group photo of those who spoke, and assisted the conference. I am in the middle with my hat on…as always.
